The Key to Confident Body Language

If someone is in a meeting or on a date, the body language conveys volumes more than live vocal expression — just like sitting at that café. The picture above depicts a distinct difference between poor and good posture and how minor changes can result in significantly improved results.

The woman left is slouching, her shoulders are rounded and just showing in the picture. Her phone is held at a weird angle, which not only looks like disinterest but can also cause future back and neck problems. This posture may also be a signal of reduced confidence or attention and it can have serious consequences on someone’s physical condition in the long term.

To the right we have a woman sitting up straight, shoulders relaxed and head held high. With her hands placed softly over the table it paints a portrait of grace and focus. This can be seen in the upright stance projecting professionalism that is being more ready and attentive. Posture extends its effect inasmuch as looking good on photos; it improves our respiration, helps us to concentrate and reduces the possibility of chronic pain.

Good posture can also affect the way others see you in social and professional situations. It conveys poise, confidence and an appetite for business. Good posture = looking polished, but more importantly you feel as if you look like the very best version of yourself. In other words, the next time you take a seat of any kind around your house or elsewhere in society you should consider making an effort to plant yourself straighter asap.
